Reasons behind lower eyelid bags!

To look good, most of the people follow a proper diet and exercise. Although that’s great, but still when they look into the mirror, there are complaints that they look older. And this is all because of their ageing, which leads to droopy & baggy eyelids.

However, nowadays this is easily curable, as various cosmetic surgeries have come up. Amongst all, blepharoplasty surgery is recognised as one of the best eyelid surgery to improve the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, and ultimately giving people a new improved look!

Although there are various reasons, but one such factor behind droopy eyelids and lower eyelid bags, is ageing. To know various other reasons, read the mentioned below points:


  • Genetics: This is the blueprint of life, which is handed down from our parents. Thus it means that the look of our eyes depend on the genetic factor, which we get from our father, mother or blood relation relative.
  • Variations due to anatomy: Another factor is due to variations in our anatomy i.e. position of upper and lower eyelid, angle of eyes, position of the eyebrows and cheek and forehead. Thus depending on these variations, different treatments are done on people eyelids. Also, because the ageing factor is significantly different depending on the anatomical differences between each individual.
  • Changes in skin: Due to ageing and rubbing of eyes frequently, skin gets loosen up, which ultimately loses its effects and results in giving an individual, droopy eyelids.
  • Loss volume: As part of the ageing, we continue to lose volume in the face. And this is the major reason why most of the people have bags underneath their eyes. Moreover, when the tissues around the face drop, it also contributes in making shaggy eyelids more prominent.
  • Lack of sleep: Sleeping is not only essential for our body, but it is also one such factor which if continued can cause eye bags. Thus it is recommended that everyone should sleeps for at least 7 hours. Moreover studies have shown people who consume diuretics such as coffee and alcohol, and along with that do not have a good sleep would also face it.
  • Sun exposure: As we all are aware that mostly people get skin cancer, if they are frequently exposure to sun, but it is also one such factor, which significantly accelerate the ageing process. Thus it is recommended to use SPF 25+ cream.
  • Diet: A balanced diet is essential, as it the right nutrients slow down the process of ageing and eye bags.
  • Allergies: Sometimes allergies caused on eyelids may also become the reason for causing lower lid bags and dark circles
